The product of this plant is dried yeast which is used in the bakeries for the processing of Dough, enhancement of the quality thereof, and as a substitute for the present consuming material which is Sodium Bicarbonate. Consumption of yeast, which is a kind of micro organism, causes hollowness and porosity, which consequently guises raise to a good baking and easy digestion of the bread and which finally brings about a pleasant taste in the baked product.

Government policy to encourage using of yeast in the bakeries gives rise to the briskness of consumption market domestically. Furthermore, the export market thereof will also be desirable

The raw material needed for production of yeast is beetroot or sugar cane molasses which are available domestically, cheap and plentiful (each K.G. about 30 Rls). The yeast so produced is sold to around 10,000 Rials at the home market, and 2-3 Dollars in the international markets. The site of the Khuzestan yeast production plant is located in Sardasht (Dezful) which can easily obtain the required molasses from the nearby Dezful or Karoon sugar plants. The present annual capacity of the yeast plant is 2700 tons, and the required capital for execution thereof stands at 120 Billion Rials. The paid-up capital amounts to 14 Billion Rials and the rest is provided through the financing of the machinery or the domestic banks. The registered capital of the company comes to 59.1 Billion Rials.

The IIDIC, which has invested 95% in this plan), and given the totality of its technical and financial capability, succeeded to launch the plant in a period of less than two years after the opening of the machineries L/C. the plant was inaugurated and became operational in the outran of year 2001. presently, that the yeast company is passing through its financial year, the relevant product is largely supplied to the market, and according to the opinion poll made, consumers have expressed their satisfaction of the quality of the yeast concerned.
